Tractafric Equipment: 475 CAT machines to develop agricultural resources in Gabon

09/2015 – Tractafric Equipment and its partner Caterpillar have been selected by the Société de Transformation Agricole et de Développement Rural (Sotrader) to supply 475 machines: 400 D6R tractors and 75 323 excavators.

Established through a public-private partnership between the state of Gabon and Olam International, Sotrader is responsible for implementing the GRAINE program, a national outgrower plantation scheme. Launched in late 2014, the initiative aims to increase national agricultural production and promote the development of farming cooperatives, in order to spur job growth and improve food security in the country. The Caterpillar machines supplied by Tractafric Equipment will be used to develop 200,000 ha of plantations.

The contract will lead to the creation of 200 direct and indirect jobs. In addition, the project includes a major training component that will see Tractafric Equipment create a specialized training center in Libreville and bring 50 Gabonese technicians to its Casablanca training center.

Thirty years on from the construction of the Trans-Gabon Railway, for which Tractafric Equipment supplied 400 CAT machines, the Group is pleased to lend its support to another major structural project in Gabon that will foster sustainable socioeconomic development.
